Panama City

Panama City is located on the fabled Florida Panhandle, and it sits on the beautiful Emerald Coast. The waters of the Gulf of Mexico, coupled with the stark white sand, provide the deep green waters for which this region is so famous. Panama City is popular with tourists year round for its attractive climate, unspoiled beaches, easy living, and great nightlife.

Panama City has become quite renown for its party reputation, and this is in large part because it is an extremely popular Spring Break destination. Every year during March and April, the beaches of Panama City are flocked with students looking for a release from the stresses of school and the demands of being a young adult.

The rest of the year, Panama City does have a good nightlife and fun day activities, but everything really becomes a frenzy during Spring Break Season. Alcohol is allowed on the Beach in Panama City, so the party is a continuous cycle from morning to night. Should you want to escape the booze, there is golfing, parasailing, SCUBA diving, snorkeling, jet skiing, and water skiing located in Panama City. To be frank: there are non-related party events and activities, but not too many. Panama City’s economy thrives on Spring Break, and caters heavily to the Spring Break crowd.

The hotels located here offer “deals” during the Spring Break period, but the cheapest time to visit is in the summer (the thinking goes: winter = snowbirds = money, so there are not too many deals per se in the winter). However, the winter weather in Panama City beach is perfect, so it may be worth the time to visit Panama City during this season. The hotels vary in their price range, so no matter what your budget; it is possible to stay a good hotel or condo on the beach for a very reasonable price.

There is a small but strong residential LGBT community, but gay and lesbian travelers provide an influx to this population during the Spring Break madness. There are a couple gay bars in Panama City, and during Spring Break, these hot spots are out of control!
