Jensen Beach

Jensen Beach
Located on the Treasure Coast, Jensen Beach is relatively unknown to people who are not residents of Florida. However, do not let this anonymity deceive you into thinking that Jensen Beach must not be fun or friendly; quite the contrary, Jensen Beach is a beautiful ocean town with many resorts, lodgings, restaurants, and bars to suit your budget and needs.
Jensen Beach is divided by the intercoastal waterway. On the mainland side of the waterway, there is an abundant amount of shops, bars, and restaurants that feature local Floridian and Caribbean/Cuban fare. The prices throughout the mainland Jensen Beach are actually quite affordable, for this town is not quite on the tourist’s radar. There are malls of course, and in downtown Jensen there are unique boutiques alongside kitshy seashell and sea glass stores. Jensen Beach is laid out in a neat and orderly design, and the ambience is very friendly and neighborly. The LGBT community is accepted here, so do come and enjoy yourself.
On the other side of the intercoastal waterway, Hutchinson Island is sixteen miles of unspoiled beaches that runs parallel to mainland Jensen Beach. Hutchinson Island is part of Jensen, but the island is where the best hotels, resorts, and motels are erected. Even though there are hotels, a motor lodge, and other lodging options on this island, nature is not lost here. The clear blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean lap against golden sand; flowers and ocean shrubbery dots the far reaches of the beach before hotels rise in their respective glory. The hotels and condominiums are unparalleled for their views and prices on such a gorgeous stretch of beach.
On this beach, popular recreation includes surfing, boogey boarding, wake boarding, jet skiing, kite sailing, snorkeling, SCUBA diving (further offshore though), seashell/sea glass hunting, and sand castle building (professional sand castle builders frequent this beach, but amateurs make their own masterpieces). Life goes by at an idyllic page in Jensen Beach, and people who stay there are eager to (and frequently do) return.
Being that Jensen Beach and Hutchinson Island is on the Treasure Coast, it is possible to find Spanish Galleons, pieces of jewelry, space shuttle pieces, gorgeous sea shells, sand dollars, and sea glass on these beaches. In addition, the sea turtles return to Jensen Beach every year to lay their eggs; when one is ashore, you can get close to take pictures, but under no circumstances can you touch or harass these endangered creatures. Life Guards are stationed around the island, and they will protect baby sea turtle eggs by marking off the area with orange tape; to tamper with this marked off area is illegal and a crime. Yet, if you are lucky enough to be on the beach when the turtles hatch, it is fun and memorable to watch the little ones make a scram for the ocean (once again, no touching or ‘helping’ the baby turtles!). There is plenty of friendly wildlife in Jensen Beach, including dolphins!
